 Incredible 2024 Mothers with Mentors Program Kick-Off on Saturday, May 4th! Thank you to all the volunteers, mentors, mentees, and team members who made today a success. This 6-month Mothers with Mentors Program allows mothers to have more one-on-one customized support from mentors assigned to help them reach their goals in the areas of financial literacy, education, parenting, self-care, career development, housing, childcare, transportation, health and wellness. Each mentee has a "Success Plan" for the duration of the 6 months to help them identify clear steps to reach their goals. This program offers wrap-around services including case-management, baby supplies, household items, mental health assessments and support groups all in an effort to economically empower single mothers. We are very excited to work with this new group this year - please keep us in your prayers!

Our first Georgia Southern University! Parent Support Group was a success! Special thanks to Board Member, Marvette D. Wilkerson, for making our baby supplies and household items more accessible to these awesome parents. Additional thanks to the phenomenal Mrs. Jones and our extraordinary speaker, Teia Acker #Resilient, for pouring into our parents today. P: (912) 232-5860 July 27, 2023 - Savannah, GA – In preparation for the new school year, the Savannah Georgia Power employee chapter donated over $5,000 in school supplies to the single Moms of Shelter From the Rain Inc this week. Multiple Georgia Power teams came together to assemble backpacks at their Savannah location as part of their 100 Days of Summer campaign. School supplies included backpacks loaded with all age appropriate supplies for children in elementary, middle and high school. This outreach will go a long way in helping struggling single mothers who are currently preparing their children to return to school. Within Chatham County, 40% of the households are led by single parents. In the United States, one out of three children live in a single-parent family with 83% of these single-parent families headed by a woman. Single mothers are more likely to experience job displacement, poor academic attainment, live in poverty, and have episodic or chronic depression. The assistance that Georgia Power has provided this year will help with the financial burden of preparing for school for single mothers in Savannah and help set their students up for academic excellence. “This partnership with Georgia Power has allowed us to triple the number of students that we are able to assist with school supplies this year. It is truly amazing to see businesses really put the time and effort into ensuring that the single-parent families in our community have the resources they need to thrive.
