Jennifer T. Graham is the Founder and Executive Director of Shelter From the Rain, Inc. (SFTR), a nonprofit organization she founded in 2010 to provide holistic support, mentorship, and essential resources to single mothers and their children. Motivated by her own lived experience of becoming a mother at the age of 16, Jennifer understands firsthand the transformative power of community, stability, and opportunity in helping families thrive.
Under her leadership, Shelter From the Rain has grown from a grassroots initiative into a trusted community-based organization serving single mothers through mentorship, wraparound services, support groups, and basic needs assistance. SFTR is supported by volunteers who help deliver programs and peer support with strategic partnerships, technology-enabled service delivery, and systems-level impact. Jennifer has worked collaboratively with local and regional organizations for more than a decade to strengthen outcomes for single-parent families and to ensure access to critical resources related to housing stability, workforce readiness, mental health, and family wellbeing. Her leadership blends lived experience, strategic vision, and operational discipline, positioning SFTR as an emerging national leader in holistic family support. Shelter From the Rain has received multiple awards recognizing its service and advocacy for single mothers, including: Best of Georgia (2025, 2024, 2023, 2022), Voyage Savannah (2024), Nexstar’s Remarkable Women Award (2023), The Sigma Social Action Award (2023), SCAD Alumni Community Service Award (2021), United Way’s Women Who Rule Award (2019), and StepUp Savannah’s Outstanding Advocacy Award (2017). Jennifer is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she earned a degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Advertising. She also holds an MBA in Marketing from Saint Leo University and is the Founder of FreshWorks Media. With more than 20 years of experience in communications and marketing, she has worked with organizations including Savannah Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Arrhythmia Alliance (an international health nonprofit), and T.H.A. Group Home Health Care. In addition to her professional work, Jennifer has served as a volunteer with T.H.A. Group’s Island Hospice, Savannah Church of God, The Living Vine Christian Maternity, and several other nonprofit organizations. She is the proud mother of her son, Jalin Graham, a violist who attends The Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University. |
