"Pantry Pal" Program We need your help! Our Pantry Pal program is the collection and distribution of nonperishable foods, household items and clothing for low-income single-parent families. We use these supplies to help struggling mothers provide for their households while dealing with various other financial demands. The community, local and national organizations donate the items for our pantry. |
"Meals For Moms" Program (COVID-19 Relief Effort) Our Meals For Moms program is in partnership with local restaurants to provide meals to single parent families. This program was developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to support local small businesses struggling to survive while also providing food for families in need. Through this program, we are able to raise funds that are given right back to the community in ways that support both our economy and local families. |
"Mental Health For Single Moms" Program Our Mental Health For Moms program partners with Heads-Up Guidance Services of Savannah (HUGS) to provide single mothers with affordable counseling services needed to live a healthy life. This program allows single mothers to access individual counseling as well as group counseling with other single mothers at no cost. "Baby Bundles" Program & Community Diaper Bank
Our Baby Bundles program helps provided needed baby supply items (diapers, baby wipes, baby powder, etc) for newborns/toddlers and educational information for mothers. We receive donations from the community and purchase items that are out of stock to provide to families in need. We have also have a community Diaper Bank under this program. Mommy Meetup Support Group
Support and encouragement from other moms is great for building the spirit of a single mother. The monthly virtual Mommy Meetup Support Group allows moms to meet with other moms and connect with community partners that help to empower them to reach their goals. It is free & open to the public. We provide education, resources & support to mothers. Educational topics & community resource information includes, but is not limited to, the following: Breastfeeding, GED Courses, Healthcare, Insurance, Finance, Health & Nutrition, Career Preparation, etc. Mothers with Mentors" Program The "Mothers with Mentors" Mentorship Program is an extension of this support group and give mothers one-on-one guidance from a mentor in efforts to reach positive goals. This mentorship program is designed to meet additional needs of single parents and their families through a structured system of one-on-one assistance. The documented outcomes of this assistance program will help single mothers in the areas of economic independence, education, housing, employment, health and wellness. "Queen’s Corner" Program
Our Queen’s Corner program feels that every mother should be treated like a queen and every queen needs someone in her corner. Named after the late Mary Queen Graham, a lifelong single mother, this program is designed to support single mothers through recognition, notes of encouragement, gently used clothing/shoes and small gifts. Each year, we award extraordinary single mothers with a “Crown a Single Mom” award that acknowledges their outstanding efforts as parents. We also assist selected families for holiday assistance each year to help ease the burdens of single mothers during the holidays. |
"Building Blocks" Program
Our organization believes that education is the key to success. This program encourages families to read, attain education and establish a love for learning in the home. Our goal is to supply families with the tools they need to learn and advance in their studies/personal development. This program collects school supplies, distributes books and connects educational resources to families in need in hopes of achieving better economic opportunities and independence. |
"Career Central" Program
This program equips mothers with the tools needed for job preparation and entrepreneurship. Shelter From the Rain volunteers prepare mothers for internships or full-time employment. Our volunteers help mothers format cover letters and resumes, practice interviewing, complete applications and use the Internet to search for jobs. This program helps mothers gain education and economic independence through free educational information & workshops. |
"Emergency Shelter" Program
This program helps to assist single parents with emergency housing needs. By offering temporary shelter solutions, each single parent has additional time to find suitable housing options for their family. Referrals for this program are sent through partnership organizations that can confirm the status of each single parent. |
