Testimonial:
"My child's grades have improved so much. Her math grades went from low 60s to 90’s and higher."
- Single Mom of a 4th Grade Student

Tutoring helps students improve in the areas of self-confidence, self-esteem, academics, and performance. It also makes life easier for single moms who are struggling to help their children improve academically. We are so grateful for our partnership with EZ as PI Tutoring Service for helping the students of our single moms!

    VIRTUAL TUTORING APPLICATION

The Tutoring Services provided through Shelter From the Rain are in partnership with a third party: Ez as Pi Tutoring Service. We ask that you and your child review the expectations below and commit to the tutoring terms. If any of these terms are broken, the tutoring service agreement may be terminated:

    1. Students are expected to be fully prepared and bring the following items to each tutoring appointment: Syllabus, textbook, calculator (if needed), notebook, writing utensils, laptop computer, etc. and arrive to sessions on time.

    2. Students are expected to have all homework and other materials completed prior to the tutorial session and have appropriate questions prepared.

    3. Students can receive tutoring in multiple subject areas (please discuss this need with an Academic Success Counselor).

    4. Students can schedule appointments for up to one hour per session, no more than once a week per subject. Any sessions outside of this session will be paid for by the parent.

    5. If you are running late, need to cancel your appointment, drop the course in which you are receiving tutoring, or will no longer need tutoring, please email both the tutor and info@shelterfromtherain.com.

    6. If a student is a no call/no show for two scheduled tutoring appointments, they will forfeit their appointment times and must meet with both the tutor and Shelter From the Rain to discuss reinstatement.

    7. Tutors will provide reinforcement of classroom instruction through demonstration, explanation, clarification, modeling, etc. Tutors will NOT: do your homework for you, “cram” with you for a last minute study session, write your paper, give you the answer, give you a topic/idea, guarantee a certain grade or perform under an unreasonable time limit.

    8. Students agree that tutoring will not necessarily result in perfect work and does not guarantee an “A” or a passing grade. Success in a course is dependent on the student implementing sound study strategies and putting in the needed effort, not on the tutor.

    9. Should conflicts occur due to scheduling, personalities, or any other concerns between a student and tutor, the student must email both the tutor and info@shelterfromtherain.com. Please do not contact your tutor for anything outside of tutoring-related concerns.

    10. Parents are expected to help ensure that students have a quiet place to complete work and engage with the tutor prior and during each session. The duration of the services provided for each child will be discussed during the initial intake meeting and confirmed via email. Any services obtained outside that agreement will be the financial responsibility of the parent. If you have additional questions, please email: info@shelterfromtherain.com
